Kendrick Lamar is one of the most famous rappers in the world, with his songs constantly at the top of the 2025 charts list. He went on to collaborate with many famous artists such as Taylor Swift and SZA, becoming a true icon to many people. With this, he spoke out and dropped the song “Alright,” to discuss the Black Lives Matter movement back in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the most recent drama flooding all over social media, Kendrick Lamar is at its center after his performance at the Super Bowl half-time show, where he performed his newest diss track “Not Like Us.” This was his biggest diss track ever made and a direct target against former actor and rapper, Drake. He was known before his music career from his previous role in the old television series Degrassi, which aired from 2001 to 2009.
Although the two have been at each other’s throats since 2013, their relationship began on great terms as Drake came out with his second studio album “Take Care.” While both are the same age, at the time Drake was an enormous success back then, while Kendrick Lamar was noticeably unrecognizable. Lamar gave Drake a nice compliment on his success where they chilled out and vibed with each other, but eventually came to realize that they both didn’t like each other as an actual artist.
Drake was there for Kendrick’s independent album debut “Section .80,” where Lamar shares how he feels about his relationship with Drake. Describing it as “tempting,” and “potentially harmful,” which ultimately put a wrench in their relationship.
But eventually their relationship continued to develop in early 2012. While Drake was on tour, Kendrick signed a big major label contract with Interscope Records. In the fall of the same year Kendrick Lamar came out with his first major album “Good Kid, m.A.A.d City,” which featured a Drake verse on the soundtrack “Poetic Justice,” which later became a hit single. In December 2012 both became close friends with A$AP Rocky and collaborated for the song “Problems.”
In 2013, the following year Drake and Kendrick collaborated once more with a different artist, known as Big Sean, for the song “Control,” which featured Kendrick-who was intended for Big Sean’s album Hall of Fame but was left off due to sample issues. In “Control,” Lamar really disses Drake in a verse, positioning him to the top of the podium.
J.Cole worked with Drake in 2023 and that is when the feud took its turn with the song “First Person Shooter,” which was rumored to be about Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick retaliated against Metro Boomin when the song “Like That,” came out last year and hit the billboards real hard. He started demolishing not only Drake but another famous rapper known as Future.
In April 2024 Drake fired once again a second diss track against Kendrick and in an instant a bloodthirsty Kendrick Lamar fired right back with the 6 minute track “Euphoria.” Last year was full of diss tracks from them such as Drake’s “Family Matters.”
Since then, both rappers would release diss tracks back and forth to each other where it was all fun and games until someone got hurt. In this case, it was Drake after the most recent events of the 2025 Super Bowl. After Kendrick publicly, over national television, dissed Drake about all previous rumored allegations in the song “Not Like Us.” Since then, Drake’s been silent and fans keeping up with the drama, reportedly claimed that Drake angrily threw an orange slipper at a drone that was spying on him from his penthouse balcony. The videos are constantly being shared across various social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, and even X.
In the latest news, Kendrick Lamar went on to win 5 grammy awards for the diss track “Not Like Us,” at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
As for other celebrities choosing sides, here are those music artists who are siding with Drake, 21 Savage, 50 Cent, and Lil Wayne. Kendrick Lamar’s people that are on his side of the pole are Eminem, Pharell Williams, Taylor Swift, SZA, Dr. Dre, and Tyler the Creator. Kendrick and Drake are now giving each other lawsuits for all sorts of reasons that are beyond their fans control.
