The clock is ticking for a chance to make a real impact on campus.
The deadline for submitting nominations for the Student Government Association is April 2 at noon.
The positions open including president, vice president, secretary and student trustee. Students may also express their interest in service as the SGA treasurer or as a senator, which are non-elected positions.
The SGA serves as the voice of the student body, engaging with faculty and administration to ensure students’ needs are heard. The student trustee serves on the college board of trustees, advocating for the student body in regards to college policy and decision-making.
SGA President Sammy Di Piazza, a creative writing major, encouraged students to consider stepping up.
“Everyone has a chance to apply, whether you’re a general member, a senator, or just part of the student body,” she said. “It’s an incredible leadership opportunity, and no matter what happens, being part of this movement will help you make a positive difference. I’m proud of anyone willing to take steps towards a better future.”
Dominic Llivicura, vice president of the SGA and a business administration major, agreed.
“It’s a great opportunity to represent the students and collaborate with the administration and faculty. It’s a great way to really represent everyone on campus, and make real change, that’s what I can really emphasize on.”
