Marvel has officially announced on March 31, 2025 at CinemaCon 2025 that the next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be releasing July 31, 2026. Fans all over the world have been reposting and sharing their thoughts and predictions on the matter all over social media since the drop.
Joining in on the fun, below includes everything we know heading into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as well as the film’s story predictions.
What we know so far–
After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are left with a somewhat broken down, isolated Peter Parker. With not only the loss of Aunt May, but the memories and existence of Peter Parker wiped from those closest to him, as well as the world- it is safe to say that Peter Parker has been forgotten.
At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter is seen unpacking boxes in a small apartment, leaving a GED book visible for viewers to spot. This was most likely to show that Peter didn’t get to finish high school, and he must take this exam to move on toward college. This all being due to the possibility that all records of Peter Parker cease to exist, such as Doctor Strange stated. “It will be as though you never existed.”
Where Do We Go From Here?
Being that the three Tom Holland films had Peter Parker in High School, it’s safe to say that viewers will possibly have the chance to see this Peter’s “College Arc.” Which will hopefully introduce new characters that the MCU still hasn’t, such as Holland’s version of Harry Osborn, Norman Osborn, Gwen Stacy, and even Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat.
Now while everyone else has lost memories of Peter’s existence, that doesn’t apply to Peter himself. Meaning he remembers all the events that took place during No Way Home, including the fact that from Tobey Maguire’s universe, Norman Osborn, also known as Green Goblin, killed Aunt May.
Possible Characters
It is possible to see Peter’s face drop when he meets the guy in the back of class with the last name “Osborn.” Same goes for possible teasers of a new start up company that goes by the name “Oscorp,” leaving Peter with troubling thoughts.
In addition to this “college arc,” two great additions to Peter’s life would be the first MCU appearance of Gwen Stacy and Felicia Hardy. Gwen Stacy would most likely meet Peter through college classes, essentially adding a new relationship between the two. Especially since MJ and Ned are now fully out of the picture. While Felicia Hardy, also known as the Black Cat, would meet Spider-Man through late web swinging.
Now rumors speculate that Fantastic Four member Human Torch, also known as Johnny Storm, who is played by Joseph Quinn could possibly meet Peter at college. Such as when Johnny and Peter met at High school in Brian Michael Bendis’s Ultimate Spider-Man comic Issue #68. This was due to Johnny’s sister Sue Storm, who forced him to go back to school and finish his education. Although, between Fantastic Four: First Steps releasing July 25, 2025 and Avengers: Doomsday releasing May 1, 2026 that chance is unlikely, but no one knows for certain. Especially since viewers don’t know where our four new members will be at the end of the film.
Played by Vincent Philip D’Onofrio, Mayor Wilson Fisk from the new hit Daredevil: Born Again would be a great addition to Spider-Man’s story. As this adds not only a new villain in his path but a whole new playground for Spider-Man to explore. Especially with different gangs and possible underground activities that would take place. Which would be the ultimate introduction to Felicia Hardy’s Black Cat, who gets caught stealing from Fisk- like every comic and video game adaptation.
Symbiote Suit – Will It Make The Cut?
As much as fans want to see the symbiote attach itself to Tom Holland, it’s very unlikely. In every comic, video game, and Spider-Man tv-show, when the symbiote attaches itself to Peter, writers expand the world around them. They show how it changes the person wearing it, as well as how it hurts those closest. So far, this version of Peter doesn’t have anyone close yet.
Even by the movie’s hour and half mark, if Peter and whoever he cares about do get close, it’ll feel rushed for him to separate himself from them and become someone they don’t recognize. It’s not to say fans won’t see the symbiote in this movie, Marvel is famous for their after credit teasers. So fans might get lucky seeing the symbiote in a lab, on a random piece of clothing, or maybe on someone they might recognize from the comics. Marvel is always full of surprises, but on this one, many fans will agree that for the symbiote story to work and have great impact, it needs great character development.
