A major HVAC-related water line leak flooded both the first and lower levels of the Smithtown Science Building on the Ammerman Campus at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Classes, labs, and activities in the building were canceled for the day. The most severe damage was reported in lab rooms T-25 and T-27, which will remain closed until further notice. All other areas of the building were reopened on Wednesday, April 16.
Flooding also affected stairwells and common areas across both floors. Cleanup and damage assessments began immediately, led by Plant Operations, Facilities, and Public Safety teams.
Faculty have been advised to transition to remote instruction or make alternate arrangements as needed. Students should contact instructors directly for updates.
