The Hunt to Find Missing Long Island Woman, Gabrielle Petito Continues
September 14, 2021
22-year-old Gabrielle Petito from Blue Point Long Island has been missing since Aug. 30 and her family needs help to bring her home safely. According to an abc7NY article that was published on Sept. 13, Gabrielle disappeared while traveling with her boyfriend in a white 2012 Ford Transit van with a Flordia license plate that said QFTG03.
Petito’s mother, Nicole Schmidt, who still lives in Blue Point, said that Petito and her boyfriend left Long Island on July 2 for a cross-country trip. The couple was set to end their trip to Portland, Oregon sometime in October. The couple even documented their cross-country trip on Youtube and Instagram to engage and update their followers.
On Sept. 11 at around 6:55, Petito was reported missing to the Suffolk County Police Department. According to Eyewitness News, Petito’s boyfriend is not missing and the van has been found in Flordia but police will not discuss his whereabouts due to the ongoing investigation.
Petito has blonde hair, blue eyes, and several tattoos, one that is located on her forearm that says “let it be.” Anyone who has any information regarding Petito’s whereabouts can contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
“I believe she’s in danger because she’s not in touch with us,” Schmidt said. “She could be alone somewhere. She could be stranded somewhere in the wilderness and she needs help,” said Schmidt.
