The program features Suffolk County Community College Alumna, Meesha Johnson ’15 of the Shinnecock Nation. During her time here, Meesha was very instrumental in starting the A.A.B.L.E. (Access to a Balanced Life Experience)club. Despite being visually impaired and having to take public transportation from Riverhead to take classes here, Meesha was an extremely active student leader and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She has since received her Master’s in Social Work and remains a fierce advocate in the community. During the program this Thursday, Meesha will be discussing several topics such as: the history of the Shinnecock People and connection to the land as well as how Ecotherapy is used in mental health practices.
