The 10th Annual Career Services Fashion Show was held March 13 in Babylon Student Center, showcasing an array of business attire.
Jacqueline Miller, one of Suffolk’s career advisers, first started the event after she started at Suffolk in a program called Job Search Success
“The idea is to empower students and to recognize that along with getting a great education,” Miller said. “They also need to understand how to dress appropriately.”
The theme for this year’s was meant to help them understand how to dress appropriately for an interview. Miller started recruiting models in the winter semester, including many students and some professors.
One of the models walking the fashion show is Careb Bien-Aime, 21, an IT major from Shirley is the president of Suffolk’s Fashion Club.
“My favorite part at Suffolk is the Fashion Club,” Bien-Aime said.
Growing up, Bien-Aime loved dressing up and creating fashion shows with her mother. It was Careb-Aime’s first time walking the runway, but she said she felt confident.
Careb-Aime found out about the fashion show and spoke to Miller to include all of her clubmates, which became a fun experience for the group as it was their first time in a fashion show.
Isela Jimenez, 18, a liberal arts major, attended the fashion show and was impressed by what she saw.
“The fashion show was fun. The outfits were really cute, and it was such an entertaining campus activity.”
