Returning from a great run in the postseason last year and missing the College World Series due to the ongoing pandemic, Head Coach Jason Galbraith and the SCCC Men’s baseball team look forward to bringing home the title for the 2022 season.

Going into this season fresh off of their fifth consecutive Region 15 title, Galbraith shared the confidence he has in his team to win it all this year despite the missed opportunity last season.

“Due to Covid, we had travel restrictions, so we couldn’t compete for a World Series,” says Galbraith. “We intend on winning the regional title, winning the super region, and going to the World Series this year.”

Despite the recent and ongoing challenges with the pandemic, Galbraith is hopeful for a safe and healthy season.

“Just making sure all the guys stay healthy and we don’t have any outbreaks of covid that could cause us to not have some of our top players competing at our regional games that count,” Galbraith said.

The team had a 19-8-1 record last season and is looking to improve their gameplans while keeping their eyes on the prize. Galbraith is optimistic about the team’s versatility and strong offensive style, ensuring they will be a tough out for their competitors this season.

“It’s the combination of the power and speed that we have,” Galbraith explained. “The speed of our power hitters is unmatched; there is nobody in our region that’s going to match the speed of our guys.”

The men’s baseball regular season kicks off on Feb. 26 with a doubleheader against Rowan College of South Jersey – Cumberland in New Jersey.

“One of the most dynamic, offensive teams that we’ve had in the past five years… and it’s going to be a year to remember.”
