Plowed snow piles in front of the campus map by the Islip Arts Building on Feb. 26, 2026.
Classes and all in-person activities at all locations resumed Thursday morning after a historic blizzard led the school to shut down for more than three days.
President Edward T. Bonahue praised the “plant operations, maintenance, grounds, and custodial teams for all of their work over the last four days.”
He also thanked public safety officers who also remained on campus during the storm, “providing support, monitoring conditions, and keeping our community safe.”
Bonahue also noted the following:
- Some intersections and turning lanes may not be completely clear.
- On campus, our parking lots have been plowed out, but there are fewer parking spaces than usual, due to the mounded snow. Generally, the larger lots will have more parking available.
- Most sidewalks and pathways have been cleared, but he advised people to wear appropriate footwear.
- Grounds crews will be continuing their work throughout Thursday; if you see any areas that need additional attention, report those to Public Safety at 631–451–4242. Also contact Public Safety if you need any personal assistance getting from your car to your place of work.
