A 32-year-old Holtsville man was arrested on March 4 after officials say he threatened a night custodian in the Norman F. Lechtrecker Building with a knife and stole her wallet just hours earlier.
Suffolk County Community College Public Safety said in a statement that the suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall, light-skinned male, wearing a blue Suffolk hoodie, dark blue jeans and carrying a red backpack, took the custodian’s wallet and fled on an electric scooter on March 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Suffolk County police identified the suspect as Mitchell Taylor, of 243 Long Island Ave., Holtsville, who they say entered the building armed with a knife and approached the 29-year-old night custodian before demanding her wallet and jacket. She complied and was not injured. Taylor was arrested in his home on March 4 at 1:05 a.m. and charged with first-degree robbery.
